I am no fan of Raj. Neither support what his goons are up to in Mumbai. In my earlier post
‘This Man Has Gone Nuts!’ had said…
It is the constitutional right of every citizen to go, work, and reside in any part of the country with out fear. Punjab is for Punjabis, Gujarat is for Gujaratis or Maharashtra is for Marathi’s … so on and forth is as divisive and dangerous as the ‘Islamic’ Terrorism. Let us be clear.
But are the Laloos and Mulayams and Paswans - “Cow Belt Politicians” - ‘Saints’?
If Raj is playing ‘identity’ politics then what have these MahaRathis been doing? What has been Karunanidhi doing by collecting resiginatation letters from all his party MPs to save LTTE in the name of Tamils ?
Arrest Raj and prosecute him by all means, he deserve no sympathy. But at the same time take these so called ‘bleeding heart’ cow belt politicians to task too.
Here are my few posers to these Cow Belt Politicians, who are too busy playing cynical politics with an (or both or even the third one too) eye on their vote share. As Biharis and UP people constitute the largest chunk of ‘migrants’ in any Indian city it is pertinent to ask few straight question from these so called leaders.
- Why do only Bihari and UP migrant are being attacked? Mumbai has large nos of Punjabis, Gujjus, Marwaris as well.
- What has Bihar and UP state leaders done to provide their people opportunities to earn ‘honest’ livelihood?
- What make these poor people leave their place of birth and go miles away to do just some ‘menial work’?
- Who are responsible for the sorry plight of these migrants who live in slums under sub-human conditions?
- Instead of mouthing ‘platitudes’ what these so called leaders of poor people have done for these very poor people?
- How many developmental activities are/were undertaken in these states so that ample opportunities are/were created for people to earn near their homes?
- Why do not people from other North Indian states like Punjabis, Himachalis, Rajasthanis or even people from Madhya Pradesh migrate in such large nos. to other cities and that too; for doing‘menial jobs’! Ever wonder!
Let me answer few…
- These cow belt leaders are the worst enemies of their states. No one – not even a single one (possibly Nitish can be excluded from this list) ever thought of – leave alone planned and do some thing – for the welfare of their states. Whenever they got an opportunity – remember Laloo had brute majority and had he wanted he could have brought a revolution in Bihar. After all just after Independence Bihar was the most well administrated state – But Laloo kept focus on his own aggrandizement and brazenly looted the poor people’s money.
- Fate of UP is equally bad if not worst. These two most populated states have done nothing to create jobs for their people. They (citizens) have only two options a). To become criminal or b). To migrate to other city for an ‘honest’ living. Here lies the malaise. Most of them do ‘menial work’ (pulling rickshaws, Collies, construction laborers, etc – not even technical ones). They live in shanty houses in slums. IS THIS WHAT THEY LEFT THEIR HOMES AND FAMILIES FOR? Is this what Laloo, Mulayam, Paswaan and their ilk wish for them?
- Leaders like Cow belt Politicians exploit them and use abuse them for electoral gains only.
What we have been watching in utter dismay is: the ‘Cynical Vote Bank Politics’. Blaming Raj alone and arresting him will only help Raj and his brand of ‘regionalism’ and shall bring no succor to these people. Except may be scoring some political brownie points.
No doubt, Raj is guilty but others like Laloos and Mulayams who are demanding ban on Raj and his party are equally guilty if not the ‘Principal Culprits’.
Last but not least…
Constitution guarantee us the freedom to go and settle at any part of the country we wish to without fear or discrimination and it is the Governments duty to ensure that. However, states can not shrug off their responsibilities and one of which is: To provide the opportunities for earning a decent, honest livelihood to its citizens near home with dignity intact. Is this too much to ask for?
I can understand if a man/woman in service migrates to other State/City in course of discharging his/her duties.
I can understand if an actor or any other professional moves to another city/state for it being hub of that activity/profession, thus for better career prospects.
I can understand if some one moves to another city/state for exploring ‘business opportunities’ or even moving to other place for simply because he/she likes that place more…
I can and do understand that people migrate for better prospects and opportunities… your truly too lived in many cities in course of discharging my duties.
All above are understandable BUT…
- Migrating to do menial jobs!
- Migrating to live in sub-human conditions – away from families, friends - and that too for very meager income!
I do not understand.
But as I argued above, it is not the migrants fault. It is the betrayal of their trust by the so called leaders. Equally – though it is cruel to say – these people tooare themselves to blame for. They ignored far too long ‘development’ and ‘Governance’ as issues and preferred cast considerations and phony ’secularism’ when they voted. And this is exactly what these so called leaders exploited and has been still. While those who espouse their cause and do little, fattened on their votes and loyalties – just see the pink cheeks of Laloo or Paswaan or Mulayam or any of their kith and kin and contrast with fellow ‘people’ they claim to represent, will know what I am talking about – these hapless men/women are left to fend for selves.
I see no difference between Raj and these ‘Cow belt Politicians’.
Raj arrested! Good!
NOW time to arrest these leaders as well, go for the “root cause” or are root cause ‘logic’ reserved for only ‘secular bombers’? MSM and Civil Liberities champions, any answer?
I repeat…
It is the constitutional right of every citizen to go, work, and reside in any part of the country with out fear. Punjab is for Punjabis, Gujarat is for Gujaratis or Maharashtra is for Marathi’s… so on and forth is as divisive and dangerous as the ‘Islamic’ Terrorism. Let us be clear.
